I realized that Twice's Signal wasn't well accepted at all amongst K-pop stans and holds one of the largest YouTube dislike ratios in all of K-Pop somewhere around 14-15%. (I can no longer calculate the exact ratio due to the privatization of dislikes, so I took this number from Koreaboo's count of YouTube dislikes back in January. Please keep in mind that this number could've fluctuated over the course of this year). But getting back to my main point, I simply cannot comprehend how you could hate this song so much. I have seen people mention that the issues they find with Signal reside in the production & intro rap. I'm aware about all the controversy around Dahyun & Chaeyoung's rap and I completely understand where others are coming from. But for me personally, the intro just adds on to the charm and quirkiness of the song. And don't even get me started on the dance; it's simply the cutest thing I have ever seen:

I just find everything about this era so endearing; I don't think I will ever grow tired of Signal. It's just such an earworm. To wrap this post up, a lot of K-Pop stans on Reddit seem to be under the impression that some songs are objectively bad, with Signal being one of them, and the only way you could possibly enjoy the song is out of blind loyalty to the group, which is Twice in this instance. But I beg to differ, back in 2020 when I originally wrote my think piece in support of Signal I was not a Once. All I knew back then were some of Twice's title tracks and I was a real bitch when it came to complimenting cute concepts, yet I still hyped up this song. People simply have different opinions and that's just the way life goes. One man's trash is another man's treasure & I adore Signal ✪ ω ✪
